NEWS FLASH

I have done a horrible job keeping this blog up-to-date as a matter of fact I have done a horrible job keeping the music rotation fresh like I promised.

A lot of it has to do with my health, I developed these debilitating stabbing pains in my head, went to several specialist and all of the doctor’s believe that I am suffering from Chronic Migraine/Ice Pick Headaches. Mine are constant and they have been going on for over two years with no relief. So my attention to the Sonic Pirate has been pulled away more and more, while I try one treatment after another with no results…so far.

This 4^th of July weekend I had the opportunity to tune in and listen to the station for the first time in a long time and I have to say I still enjoy hearing the sound of the Pirate. I want to get back to programming this station but first I need to get healthy again.

If you are a long time listener thanks for hanging in there and I hope you continue to do so, if you are new to the pirate thanks tuning in and listening to us…hope you stick around for years to come.

Remember the Sonic Pirate is a Hobby Radio Station!

BROADCASTING AGAIN

We are back up and running with a more extreme mix of music. As I eluded to yesterday we will be adding fresh music in the coming weeks, especially to our Indie Artists playlist. Also I have been working with Lucifer to develop a Gothic specific playlist...air schedule to be determined.

OFF THE AIR

Yes...you read that right the Sonic Pirate will be off the air for a few hours on Saturday (1 May), this is so we can revamp the way the pirate is programmed. We will also be adding some new tracks in the coming weeks.

BREAKING NEWS

If you have visited the website as of late you know that we are discontinuing it as of June and this blog which was formerly known as STATE OF THE EXPERIMENT has replaced the website. We have also discontinued all of our other blogs as well. The station will remain on the air until November at which time we may end the transmission.

LOOKING BACK

As you can see by the lack of posts in 2009...it was not a good year. The station was kind of left on its own to run and it was checked every now and then, just to make sure it was still doing its thing. Everyone has kind of went there own way and interest has dwindled down. Not sure what is going to happen in 2010 but it looks like the pirate will end.

BREAKING NEWS

At the request of several listeners we have added 3 tracks from the group Zeromancer to our EXTREME MIX 1-3 playlists which air everyday of the week except Wednesday…that day is reserved for Indie Artists. We have also added 17 new tracks to our INDIE MIX playlist. There are several new artists being added to this rotation for the first time…Strive, The Wagon, Brooke Fraser, Jetboy, Cohesive, Headway and more. Also there are fresh tracks from Dirt and Vince Falzone…more fresh tracks will be added soon.

JUST A FEW THINGYS TO SAY

The Sonic Pirate has been a ghost ship for sometime now…this September all that will change with the return of the Cast of Characters to the microphones and fresh tracks will be added monthly to the various playlists. If you have any music that you would like to hear on the Pirate, send your requests to us via e-mail and we will add those tracks to our rotation, the address is sonicpirateradio@yahoo.com.

Also this September…Kenny D is back…with his unique brand of programming. He will be kicking things off with a show called “Time Capsule”. What is this show? Good question, it is my understanding that Kenny D will pick a specific year and play the music associated with that year, along with some interesting trivia. After that show ends its season all bets are off as to what we will hear next from the guru of uniqueness.

The Sonic Pirate is looking to expand its Indie Wednesday playlist so we will be back on the hunt for Indie Artists to add to our rotation. Please remember that the Sonic Pirate is a hobby radio station not a commercial station, in other words this is not our full time job. BLOG ZONE

If you are a frequent visitor to our website you may have noticed that the Blog Zone page has been deleted. The creation of the Blog Zone (a section of our website dedicated to the written word) was designed as an open forum for our staff, the listeners of the Sonic Pirate and anyone who stumbled upon this website or the blogs. But since its inception there has been very limited interaction in the Zone, so it was decided to eliminate most of the blogs, consolidate others and move their access to this blog page...at least for the time being.

CINEMATIC RADIO PROGRAMMING NOTE

This part of the experiment has been put on hold. The first series was slated to begin late 2008 but as of right now there is no schedule for production, post-production or airing dates.

CHANGES

Lately change has been slow around here and that mainly rests on my shoulders. As of this day forward I am working toward making the Sonic Pirate on Live365.com…80% Indie. From the start it has always been the goal of this experiment to bring the listeners of the Pirate a different choice in music.

NEWS FROM 2007

9 November: The future of Internet Radio is still not settled but we have decided to renew our contract with Live365 and remain webcasting until the money runs out in 2010 or earlier if operational cost continue to increase. In other related news…Kenny D returns in 2008 to the Sonic Pirate with his brand of eclectic programming. Okay we are desperate for something different and Kenny D fills that slot, maybe just a little too much.

19 October: You may have noticed…that during the later half of this year both the Internet Radio Station and the Blog Zone Publications have not been updated on a regular basis and I apologize for that. As of right now I am not sure what the future holds for this radio project. At the end of November our Internet Radio Station’s webcasting fees come due. The decision to remain webcasting or go silent is still being debated.

3 October: Tragedy strikes the Sonic Pirate…the computer system that runs all operations for this project has gone down and will not boot. This happened last year and a new computer was purchased and installed. What are the odds of this happening again? The system was about to undergo its monthly backup but crashed the day before. We are in the process of switching over to our remote operations system while we work on this issue.
